Lakeville Elementary Boys Program – for boys currently in 3rd-6th grade.

The goal of the elementary program is to teach fundamental skills and sportsmanship to youth lacrosse players. The boys elementary program is set up into two parts – Spring (in-house) Program and a Summer Program (Youth Lacrosse of Minnesota League or YLM). There is a separate registration for the Spring and Summer programs.

All players are welcome ranging from new with no experience to returning players who are continuing to develop and improve their lacrosse skills.

Spring Program:

Games/Practice times:
Mid April – Mid June on weekends.

Saturdays 10 AM -12 noon and Sundays 1PM - 3PM.

No practice or games will be held on Mother’s Day or Memorial Day Weekend.

Players are placed on teams with a main coach and an assistant. Each team will have an equal number of beginning and experienced players. Each team will also have players at each grade level. Full body checking
is not allowed in the elementary program. Lakeville Varsity High School players will assist coaches in teaching the young players the basic skills of the game as well as help officiate games and mentor the youth players.

The first half of the season is spent in a camp style format rotating the teams through various drill stations building up to game situation walk through /scrimmaging. During the second half of the season, teams work on skills before playing full in-house games.

All players will likely get the opportunity to play at the halftime of a home Lakeville Varsity Game at the Lakeville South Stadium.

Registration for spring program opens in mid January.

Summer Program:

Games/Practice times: Early June - July on weekday evenings. No weekend games or practices during regular summer program.
*YLM may schedule playoffs on a weekend*

Players will be placed on teams to compete against other youth players from teams around the south metro participating in the YLM – of the 8-10 total games, 4-5 of them will be away games depending on the final YLM schedules. There will also be a few practices throughout the summer program. Players considering playing in the summer program are encouraged to participate in spring program.

Registration for summer program usually begins during the spring program (May). Two summer program teams are planned at this time.

Equipment: Players will be required to have the following equipment to participate.

..........*Lacrosse Helmet
..........*Mouth Guard
..........*Shoulder Pads
..........*Arm pads
..........*Gloves
